Babymooning on the East Coast

For our babymoon we traveled to the East Coast for a New England road trip. Typically for a relaxing vacation we’d head to Mexico or do something like the Bahamas but with Zika scares everywhere we decided that we should explore parts of USA that we hadn’t been to yet. It ended up being the perfect babymoon! We spent 3 nights in Newport, Rhode Island and 3 nights in Keneybunkport, Maine with a final stop in Boston for one night before our flight home.

Newport was everything that we were expecting, lots of sailing and such a nautical town right on the water. We rented a J/22 foot sailboat and spent one day sailing around the bay with Billy skippering the boat. We did the Newport Cliff Walk one morning which is a 3.5 mile walk along the New England shoreline with some of Newport’s most stunning mansions along the other side of the trail. These mansions are seriously insane! The mansions are some of the Vanderbilt family summer homes and other stunners from the gilded age.

Seriously, this house is so ornate and over the top!

Kennebunkport is a beautiful seaside town on the southern coast of Maine. We pretty much ate our weight in fresh lobster here and loved how nautical and relaxed this town was. Outside of Kennebunkport we checked out Goose Rocks Beach which is a popular spot (but not overcrowded at all) and Cape Porpoise.

Lunch at The Ramp in Cape Porpoise, just a few minutes outside the main city of Kennebunkport. Super cool spot, ate fried clams and chowder which was delicious!

We stayed at a really central location in Kennebunkport and walked down to St. Anne’s church one morning which was less than a mile away. This beautiful seaside church was built in 1887 and was really charming to see in person.
