Central Coast Staycation

For Thanksgiving Billy and I decided to spend the whole week in California and take a few days before the holiday to have a mini “staycation” in Cambria. I booked an adorable hotel that was right on Moonstone Beach so Billy could surf and we could relax before Thanksgiving. We stayed at the Cambria Landing Inn and Suites, the rooms were so cute and ours had a fireplace and jacuzzi (which Billy took full advantage of). I only got to stick my feet in, another joy of pregnancy = no hot tubbing allowed πŸ™

Our adorable room! It was pretty chilly out but if it was warmer it would have been fun to sit out on the patio. When we checked in the staff gave us cookies and a welcome basket filled with goodies like hot coco mix, granola bars and oatmeal (free snacks make a very pregnant lady super happy).

There’s a great trail along the water in Cambria that we could walk down to Moonstone Beach (where there was actually decent surf for Billy!) Since my physical activity is pretty limited to walking/hiking/prenatal yoga these days we did quite a bit of walking (and picture taking) every day just to feel like I could get some exercise in.

About 10 minutes north of Cambria is the famous Elephant Seal Beach in San Simeon. There are always a ton of seals out on this beach no matter the time of year. It’s a fun stop on the drive up north to Big Sur which is where we were headed for a quick day trip.

The view from lunch in Big Sur at Nepenthe! Neither one of us had ever eaten here but I’ve heard great things about the view and it did not disappoint.

After lunch we found a trail down to the beach and hiked for a little. The cell service isn’t great up in Big Sur (one of the things I really like, it forces you to disconnect) so I’m not sure what the trail was called but it was about a mile or so down to the water.

Such an amazing trip! We loved our staycation in Cambria and had the best time exploring Big Sur. All pictures were taken on the Canon 6D.
